Local teachers get hands-on 3-D printing training at STEM workshop
Twenty-five teachers representing 11 elementary, middle and high schools statewide participated in the first 3-D printing workshop. The workshop was sponsored by the Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program.

Remote lethality: Army researchers address a host of challenges
In popular culture, the idea of robots that perform human-like functions has a special hold on the imagination. However, when it comes to integrating lethality issues arise such as safety, effectiveness and reliability. Robert Testa, the technical lead of the Remote Weapons Branch at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey, recognizes the growing evolution in autonomous technologies and is focused on improving existing remote weapon technologies for manned and unmanned platforms, as well as fixed-site applications.
Chaplain assistant role marks 105th year
Picatinny has been blessed with the presence of two enlisted chaplain assistants: Staff Sgt. Gary Miles and Spc. Stacey Lewis. Chaplain assistants provide much-needed support to the chaplains during missions and everyday activities. A chaplain assistant's primary purpose is support for the unit ministry team programs and worship services.
Picatinny engineer recognized for developing venerable 'Picatinny Rail'
Gary Houtsma, a Picatinny engineer, receives the Order of St. Maurice Award Oct. 27 for developing and creating the MIL-STD-1913, which Soldiers refer to as the "Picatinny Rail," that provides a standard interface for the attachment of weapon accessories and can be found on almost every infantry weapon used by U.S. forces today.
